A-G Report: Domelevo Set a ‘Bad Precedent’ as Auditor-General – Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu | Politics

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said leaking the Auditor General’s (AG) report to the media before it reaches Parliament is a ‘bad practice’ that must stop.

He blamed the former Auditor General, Daniel Yao Domelevo for setting a bad precedent before he left office.

Speak in NEAT FM morning show, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu noted that, all over the world, the Auditor-General works with parliaments and not the media – as they do in Ghana.

“After the investigation, they submit a report to Parliament, but in our case, they [AG] will report to the media before reaching parliament,” said.

“Domelevo started this, because of the separation from the government if you talk about it as if you don’t support him, but what he started is not good for our democracy.”

“The Auditor General’s report is not complete until parliament approves it,” to host Akwesi Aboagye.
