Human rights groups fear that this will lead to the blocking of dissent and privacy rights, and will also target the LGBTQ community because gay marriage is illegal in Indonesia.

Today in Nothing is Foreign, we delve into what this could mean for people in Indonesia, and the many influences of conservative Muslim values in the country.
Featuring:
- Dede Oetomo, right-wing LGBTQ activist and founder of Gaya Nusantara.
- Andreas Harsono, author and Indonesian researcher for Human Rights Watch.
Nothing is Stranger, a podcast from CBC News and CBC Podcasts, is a weekly trip to where the stories are. It was hosted by Tamara Khandaker.
