Is the WH2024 nomination race over now?
The big news in US politics over the past week has been the announcement by Joe Biden that he wants to seek a second term. If he is nominated and wins, he will be 86 years old at the end of his term. This was strongly against public opinion in the US where voters across the board opposed the move.
A poll for Forbes found that only 26% of respondents said they would like to see Biden run again in 2024, compared to 73% who said they would not. That includes 47% of Democrats, while 52% of Democrats don’t want him to run.
Donald Trump’s 2024 bid is also unpopular, with the poll finding that 30% of respondents said they did not want him to run again, although 55% of Republicans said they would support it.
Both parents have announced their desire to run again and it seems at the moment that both will win the party’s nomination.
The betting now has Biden rated as a 79% chance to get the nomination
