He made this known when he led members of the National Planning Committee for the event to the Region on Friday to inform traditional rulers of the development.
Mr. Commey first convened the Asogli Traditional Council and was then led by the Chief Executive of Ho City, Mr. Divine Bosson, and other stakeholders in the Region.
“The President has sent us to inform him of his decision to honor the people of Volta by asking the Region to host the 66th anniversary of Ghana’s independence. Independence Square cannot continue to host the main celebration of Ghana’s independence. He has decided this year that it is the turn of the Volta Region of the city oxygen in Ghana.
He said the essence of the meeting was to seek the support of local stakeholders especially the traditional authorities, regarding the celebration and their input would be essential to ensure the event becomes an event. “A complete exhibition of national character.”
Mr. Commey also cited the benefits to the local economy.
Asogli State Warlord, Togbe Adzie Lakle Howusu XII said “it is an honor to be informed of this event in Volta and it will happen in our land.”

The President of the Council of Chiefs of the Volta Region, Togbe Tepre Hodo, said the Region will support wholeheartedly to make the celebration one of the best.
“I can assure you that the Volta Region has a lot to offer in terms of showing our commitment to this great Ghanaian mother, and we will put everything on display to make this celebration the best it can be.”
The leader of the delegation to the House of Chiefs was Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, Minister of Volta Region, and the team proceeded to the new Ho sports stadium to access the work progress.
The 5,000-capacity facility, which has been under construction for a long time, was fast approaching completion when the team arrived.
The Director of Operations in the Office of the President after inspecting the site assigned stakeholders to take advantage of the event to market the Region.
