2024 Polls Will Be A Do-or-die Affair– Mahama Alleges
John Mahama
National Democratic Congress (NDC) hopeful flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama has declared war on next year’s general election.
In a campaign tour before the NDC presidential primary, the former President raged with fire and brimstone, saying the exercise was a “boot-to-boot or do-or-die affair.”
He charged party supporters not to treat the election as a joke but to be alert to secure victory for the NDC.
He said to “keep your eyes open at the polling station like an eagle.”
Mr. Mahama, who wants to return to the presidency, used two controversial phrases in Ghanaian political phraseology to address the seriousness with which the NDC will run in 2024.
“I have no doubt that the NDC will win the 2024 election. So, the vote will be a do or die affair and we will be matched boot to boot at the polling station.
“When the time comes, we will take the names of polling station agents and I ask that we need educated people who can do at least arithmetic, so that you can find out what you actually get and ensure that the biometric details match the amount of paper in the ballot box.
“It’s not about who is older in the party. We need smart people who can be trained to do the job. You can bring educated wards to be trained for that purpose,” he said.
The former president disclosed that the NDC plans to have the results collated by midnight on December 7.
“That way, when the voting ends at 5 pm, we will be able to declare victory at midnight. We will have our results. We will not sleep in the evening of December 7 until we are sure that we will win,” he said.
The defeated 2020 NDC Presidential candidate has called on party members to be more vigilant to secure NDC victory in 2024.
