2024 Is For You – Traders Hail Bawumia At Kumasi Central Market | Politics

Traders occupying various stalls in the ultra-modern Kejetia market greeted Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, declared himself the next leader of Ghana in 2024.

The declaration was made by the traders when Vice President Bawumia came to the market on Monday, March 20 to find out firsthand the unfortunate fire incident in the market.

In his speech, Dr. Bawumia assured the traders at the Kejetia Market that the venue will open for business tomorrow, March 21, 2023 which contradicted the previous announcement by the management of the facility.

He indicated that the announcement was a big relief to him after authorities closed the facility to allow an investigation into the cause of the fire last week.

The insurance was brought about by traders’ insistence that the premises should be opened for business so that the affected shops are dealt with in isolated cases.

Dr. Bawumia’s intervention was timely and appeased traders who said they were slowly being pulled out of business due to the closure.

The Vice President has also assured the users of the facility that His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is willing to help the traders to make life easier. Dr Bawumia assured the affected market women government would support them with funds to enable them to return to business.

This was after he visited the Kejetia Market facility to ascertain the level of damage and sympathize with traders.

To the traders, he said that life returns to the market through trading activities.

“I understand what you’re worried about (traders are underemployed), the closure of the market is really a concern. The firemen said they understand the incident, not the electricity, they’ve checked everything, the market will be open tomorrow so that business can go ahead”

“President Nana to intervene and support traders in the Kejetia market whose shops and goods were damaged. He also asked for the government’s support in implementing the fire recommendations of the inquiry.
He urged traders to be vigilant in the market to prevent future incidents as fires were started by traders cooking close to flammable materials.

“We have visited the site of the fire and 33 shops that were damaged. I have asked the reason. I have been told that the investigation so far has suggested that someone cooked in the shop with petrol. That is where the fire started”

“Other shops nearby also sell turpentine, gunpowder and other fuels that cause explosions in the market”
