The Director of Civil Society Directorate of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Najatu Muhammad, has quit partisan politics.
Ms Muhammad announced her decision in a letter dated January 19 and addressed to the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu.
He said that he withdrew from partisan politics because there was no ideological difference between political parties.
Ms Muhammad said the new development in the political space made her unable to continue partisan politics.
The letter was written, “In accordance with article 9.5 (i) of the Constitution All Progressive Congress (APC), I am writing to you to inform you of the resignation of the All Progressive Congress (APC). With this letter, I am also informing you of my resignation as the Director of Civil Society Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
“It is a great honor to work with you (Mr. Adamu) to contribute to the building of our beloved nation. However, some recent developments in the country’s political and democratic space, have made it impossible for me to continue participating in party politics.
“After much reflection and careful consideration, I have decided to part with party politics. I have come to realize that my values and beliefs are no longer compatible with party politics. Our political parties have no ideological differences and are just cloaks that politicians wear to meet their needs and their personal interests at a given time.As a result, we see politicians changing from one cloak to another when it suits them.
Ms Muhammad said she prefers to support candidates on a personal level rather than through a political party.

“What matters at this time is the individual who wears the cloak and not the cloak. I am committed to supporting individuals who are truly interested in addressing the root causes of our challenges as a nation. To stay true to that commitment, one must be willing to take bold and decisive steps ,” the letter said.
In 2016, Ms Muhammad, a staunch supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, refused to be appointed chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State.
