President Muhammadu Buhari has said Bola Tinubu, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming election, loves Nigeria and the voters should elect him as the next president.
The President made the call at the inauguration of the APC presidential campaign on Saturday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
Buhari added that he knows Tinubu as a progressive and patriotic Nigerian for the past 20 years who has contributed a lot to democracy in the country.
He further said Tinubu has been tested and trusted in the positions he has held in the past and will replicate and improve if elected president.
Buhari also said he will continue campaigning for APC and called on Nigerians and his followers to vote for Tinubu as his successor in the February 25 election.
The President also called on the people of Nasarawa State to re-elect Governor Abdullahi Sule for a second term in office to consolidate his achievements in security, employment, agricultural development and health, among others.
Also, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of APC, welcomed the President, Presidential candidate and running mate as well as other APC leaders to Nasarawa State.
Adamu said that the people of Nasarawa State respect the President for the dualising of Keffi/Lafia road, the building of the Federal Secretariat, the Central Bank and the appointment of important sons and daughters of the state as heads and members of Federal Government agencies among many others.
The APC National Chairman added that Nasarawa State and Nigeria will give Tinubu, Gov Sule and other APC candidates more votes than the previous elections.
On her part, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, thanked Buhari for giving women the opportunity to serve in important positions in his government.
The minister added that market women, farmers, youths and indeed vulnerable people benefited greatly from the social investment program domiciled by the government in his office.
“No government in recent Nigerian history has invested in women, youth and the vulnerable like President Muhammadu Buhari,” he added.
Also, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), who spoke on behalf of the governor, said APC will win the upcoming presidential election and win more states.
The PGF chairman used the opportunity to assure Nigerians that the difficulties they are facing due to fuel scarcity and naira redesign will be over.
He said that he has discussed extensively with the president and in the next few days the opposition parties and those who want to take political advantage of the situation will be embarrassed.
On his part, Tinubu, the party’s Presidential candidate, reiterated his commitment to transform the country and reposition it for economic development if elected president.
Tinubu said that opposition parties and enemies of the country who want to see a crack in the APC will wait in the vane as the party remains united and strong.
“APC is one and we will move together as one for victory in the next general election by the grace of God,” he added.
