BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference announced its 2023 women’s basketball postseason awards on Tuesday.
Aliyah Boston from South Carolina was named Player of the Year as well as Defensive Player of the Year. It was Boston’s fourth consecutive Defensive Player of the Year award and second Player of the Year award. He was also named Freshman of the Year in 2020.
LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson was named Freshmen of the Year with the 6th Woman of the Year award going to South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso. Alabama’s Hannah Barber was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
South Carolina’s Dawn Staley was named Coach of the Year. This is Staley’s sixth SEC Coach of the Year honor.
First and second team All-SEC honors, All-Freshman team, All-Defensive team, along with Player, Coach and Freshman, Defensive Player, 6th Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year are selected by the league’s 14 coaches.
