2022 BECE Results Released | Education

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results for school and private candidates who sat for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

WAEC announced this in a statement on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

The results for private candidates can be accessed on the board’s website www.waecgh.org.

“Wanted school candidates can also access their results online on the Board’s website,” statement signed by Rev. Victor Brew, Head of Legal at WAEC stated.

These exams are both for certification and selection into Senior High Schools and Technical Institutes in Ghana.

Statistics

A total of 552,288 candidates including 276,999 boys and 275,289 girls took the school exam.

This includes 65 visually impaired candidates, 427 visually impaired candidates and 54 candidates with other test accommodation needs.

Out of the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam, there were 4,309 who did not appear.

BECE for Private Candidates recorded a total entry figure of 1,144 candidates. It consists of 641 males and 503 females.

Out of the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam, 84 candidates did not appear.

Malpractice

After the completion of the investigation carried out in several cases of examination malpractice detected during the conduct of the examination, the 33rd Meeting of the Final Award and Examination Appointment Committee for BECE, 2022 held on January 24, 2023, approved as follows. :

1. Cancellation of Subject Results of 416 school candidates and 3 private candidates due to the violation of either bringing foreign materials to the exam room or colluding with other candidates;

2. Withhold the Subject Results of 38 prospective schools pending the conclusion of the investigation in various cases of alleged examination malpractice;

3. Cancellation of All Results of 73 school candidates and 2 private candidates for the offense of bringing mobile phones to the examination hall;

4. Withholding Results All 11 school candidates are waiting for the conclusion of the investigation into various cases of alleged examination malpractice.

Meanwhile, candidates’ scripts from 40 schools in certain subjects are being examined.
The withheld results of the candidates may be canceled or released based on the results of the investigation.

Be careful

The council warned all stakeholders to be wary of fraudsters who promise to upgrade their results at a cost. Candidates should note that WAEC results are guaranteed and can be confirmed.

Conclusion

The Board would like to express its sincere gratitude to all stakeholders especially the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Department of Education, the Security Agency, Supervisors, Supervisors, Examiners and all those who in various ways supported in the success of the examination and the release of results.
