11 passengers burnt to death on Ore-Benin expressway accident | The Guardian Nigeria News

No fewer than 11 people were burnt to death on Sunday at Soka bridge, Ore, on the Ore-Benin road in Odigbo Local Government Area of ​​Ondo State.

Mr. Sikiru Alonge, Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ore Unit told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that a trailer collided with a Marcopollo passenger bus.

Alonge said the burn victims could not be identified as both vehicles were engulfed in flames.

“We had to call an ambulance to put out the fire,” he said.

“The passenger could not be identified because they could not identify the gender,” he said.

He said the efforts of Omotosho Step Down Power Station fire ambulance and other sympathizers to douse the fire.

Alonge said the accident caused gridlock on the expressway, while FRSC officials and other security agencies were busy controlling traffic.

Also, 10 passengers escaped another Sunday morning accident that occurred at the Ore Toll gate on the Ore-Benin road in Odigbo LGA.

Alonge said seven passengers sustained various injuries in the accident involving a Toyota Hiace with registration number FUG 17 XY, adding that the accident was caused by excessive speed.

Alonge said the injured victim was taken to Opeyemi Hospital in Ore stronghold while the vehicle was taken to the FRSC Unit office.

He reminded motorists not to speed and always obey the traffic rules.
