Woman’s Body Found Inside South Carolina Donation Bin – Cops Think She Was There ‘For Months’

Multiple law enforcement agencies in South Carolina are investigating after a woman’s body was found in a dumpster over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, a caller in the town of Lugoff reported a foul odor coming from a trash can located on Highway 1 South in the small town. When the police arrived after 09:00 local time, they found the woman’s body inside a metal bin.

Initially, police believed that someone seeking shelter from the area’s historically low temperatures had entered the dumpster and died inside. However, upon further investigation of the body, police quickly determined that the woman had been in the dumpster for much longer. It appears the donation bin was not checked or emptied “for months” before it was found – and police think the body may have been there for that long.

Now, accordingly wltxKershaw County Coroner David West and his office is investigating the discovery alongside the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office. The statewide South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has also been notified to begin investigating the discovery “as if it were a homicide.”

Based on the clothing of the corpse, the police believe that the decomposed body is that of a woman. In addition, the authorities are now at a loss because of his death or the situation where he was put in the trash. It is also not clear whether the bin is scheduled to be emptied and not. Either way, police believe it went unnoticed for months, making determining the woman’s time of death more difficult.

Police were also unable to identify the woman. His autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, according to the news outlet. With the procedure, detectives hope to learn more about who she is, and possibly the circumstances of her death. It’s unclear if her death is related to a missing person’s report that was made in the area last year.
