Do you want to ring in the New Year with pomp and flare?

Here is a list of five of the best party destinations around the world to celebrate the new year in style.

These are listed in no particular order and have all been selected for their ability to party hard.

New York

While Times Square is dimly lit throughout the year, it seems to hold a special glow on New Year’s Eve. There is one particular event called Ball Drop.

Basically, the ball descends down a specially designed flagpole, starting at 11:59 and resting at midnight to mark the start of the new year. It is a free event to attend as many people flock to the venue to join in the revelry.

Rio de Janeiro

It’s Samba town, so there are always parties all over town.

But Copacabana Beach is definitely the place with the most fireworks displays, as everyone takes advantage of the warm New Year’s Eve weather that the city is blessed with.
