While Times Square is dimly lit throughout the year, it seems to hold a special glow on New Year’s Eve. There is one particular event called Ball Drop.
Basically, the ball descends down a specially designed flagpole, starting at 11:59 and resting at midnight to mark the start of the new year. It is a free event to attend as many people flock to the venue to join in the revelry.

Rio de Janeiro
It’s Samba town, so there are always parties all over town.
But Copacabana Beach is definitely the place with the most fireworks displays, as everyone takes advantage of the warm New Year’s Eve weather that the city is blessed with.

Talking about the fireworks display, which is held in Sydney, Australia, on the harbor outside the Sydney Opera House every year on NYE is a good thing.
Crowds arrive at the venue well in advance to camp out in the open, in anticipation of the grand display.
