As support for Brexit declines, his party will decline
Sunak has achieved better personal ratings than his predecessors Johnson and Truss but polls remain poor and unless there is an improvement, the Tories will be out at the next general election.
The party was not helped by the fact that its target to remain at Number 10 in terms of seats was higher than for Labour.
If Starmer doesn’t get the 326 seats he needs for a majority, there are likely some deals that could be struck that would see him form a minority government. Not so for the Tories – a party that has become uncoalitionable.
Maybe something can be patched up with the DUP but not like Theresa May.
The big shadow hanging over the Tory Party and Boris Johnson is Brexit and we have seen support for that decline over the past year.
If it has been a universally recognized success than the Tories will take the credit. Not now and it’s hard to see anything changing before the general election.
Starmer has a 71% betting chance of becoming prime minister after the election and looks good.
