Stage 2 load shedding returns on New Year’s Eve

The country never felt the promised relief from load shedding on New Year’s Eve as the power utility has announced that yesterday’s announcement of a load shedding delay should be heeded.

Eskom said it failed to deliver on its promise of uninterrupted electricity because “five generating units were damaged since yesterday evening.”

“It is not possible to delay the load shedding at 16:00 today as previously announced. Thus, phase 2 load shedding will continue until further notice,” Eskom said in a statement.

Prior to this, load shedding had to be delayed from 4pm on Saturday to 5am on Monday. After that, the country should proceed with load shedding in the phase 2 schedule.
