Whitner Slagsvol revealed more details surrounding Craig Conover’s shocking blowup on Southern Charm, and hinted at where Craig stands with the cast. The newbie also shared what was edited out of the season.
In a recent episode, Craig repeatedly called Salley Carson a “loser” and “dumb” in a sprinter van after a night of partying in Mexico. He also told her to “shut the f**k up” – as castmates tried to get him to stop. Some costars, however, were in another van at the time.
On Morgan’s Pop Talks, Whitner addressed Craig’s blowup in the sprinter van.
“I don’t know if I’m allowed to go [behind the scenes] here, but someone in our van got a text message basically saying like, ‘Craig’s going off the rails. Like I’m a little scared,’” recalled Whitner. “I think Venita Aspen got that text message. And, you know, we were just like, ‘Wait, what’s going on?’ And then we could sort of see into the van up ahead … someone flailing about and ripping things off the wall.”
“The moment I really sort of confronted the situation was when we got out at the resort and we’re all getting out of the vans,” he continued. “The girls got out of the vans with that thousand-yard stare. … They’re like, ‘I have never seen anything that crazy.’ And he was still raging at the time. And I walked up to him [and said], ‘Dude, I’ve known you longer than all these people. Like, are you okay? Like everything good? You’re losing it over here.’”
Whitner said he thinks Craig was “really drunk,” but there’s “no excuse.”
“[Craig’s] the only one who doesn’t seem to be, you know, actively palling around with the group,” Whitner added. “He’s a little upset with me presently for something that was said during the reunion. … I’m still Team Craig.”
Whitner then addressed his relationship status.
“I get a lot of ‘How are you still single?’ DMs,” he said. “And [I’m] like, you don’t know that I am.”
“We did have a date that did get edited out [of the season],” he shared, assumedly referring to costar Molly O’Connell. “One of the producers who I was pretty close with was like, ‘Yeah, well, the other producer [is] saying [we] got to get him to kiss,’ like in the radio. And he was like, ‘I can’t tell him to do that.’”
