In the new directive taken in the letter dated December 23, 2022, Mr. Opoku-Mensah will report to the Central Office of the Secretariat. after adjournment.
Mr Opoku-Mensah was caught on tape insulting a nurse who reportedly had a misunderstanding with his daughter, a doctor at Manhyia hospital.
He later apologized after his actions were condemned by the majority of Ghanaians on social media.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Mr. Opoku-Mensah said, “I apologize for any mishap and assure everyone, there will be no repetition of such a thing.”
“I understand the disappointment and respect the inconvenience my actions have caused to the community as well as Fraternity Nursing and Manhyia Hospital,” the statement said.
The Registered Nurses and Midwives Association of Ghana has also threatened to go on strike if the director is not sacked within the next 72 hours.
The Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman of the Registered Nurses and Midwives Association of Ghana, Philemon Adu Brempong, said he had given the government a 72-hour ultimatum to remove the appointees if they were to embark on industrial action.
