The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in May 2022, has appointed a regional executive to direct the affairs of the party for the next four years and to ensure that the mantra of ‘Breaking the 8’ is fulfilled in the 2024 general elections.

As a result of the outstanding performance in the 2020 polls, fourteen (14) Regional Chairmen were retained while Bono East and North West regions have new Chairmen.
The Regional Chairmen are Anthony Namoo, Upper East Region, Divine Otoo Agorhom, Greater Accra Region, Robert Kutin Junior, Central Region, Nurudeen Fuseini, North East Region, Sanbaye B. Kangberee, Upper West Region and Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi, Ashanti region.
Others are Kwame Baffoe, alias Abronye DC, Bono Region, Makafui Woanyah, Volta Region, Evans Yaw Dapaah, Oti Region, Ibrahim Baba Bukari, Bono Eastern Region, Benjamin Armah, North West Region Chairman, Eastern Region Chairman, Jeff Konadu Addo;
The benchmarks used for the rating include the results of the 2020 general election, relationships between government appointees, constituency executives, respect for party soldiers, the media, respect for Chiefs and Scholars.
Judging from the performance for the year 2022 under review, the findings of a survey conducted by a political watchdog known as Gina Media Consult Limited has rated the Savannah NPP Regional Chairman, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, popularly known as Professor Kalamonia as the greatest, with a percentage of 82.6 .
Regional variations
A total of 500 people were randomly interviewed in each of the 16 regions. Based on the benchmark, North East Regional Chairman Nurudeen Fuseini got 49 percent, in the North West Region, the new Regional Chairman Benjamin Armah 52, 9 percent, Central Regional Chairman Robert Kutin Jnr 64 percent and Upper West. Regional Chairman, Sanbaye B. Kangberee scored 51.9 percent.
Eastern Regional Chairman, Jeff Konadu Addo scored 66.8 percent, Upper East Regional Chairman, Anthony Namoo scored 38 percent, Eastern Regional Chairman Bono new, Ibrahim Baba Bukari scored 41 percent, Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba scored 50 percent, Chairman Greater Accra Regional, Divine Otoo Agorhom scored 52.9 percent and the outspoken Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wuntumi got 58.4 percent.
Ahafo Regional Chairman, Kwabena Owusu Sekyere 42 percent, Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye DC 58.6 percent, Oti Regional Chairman, Evans Yaw Dapaah 36 percent, West Regional Chairman, Francis Ndede Siah 51 percent and Volta Regional. Chairman, Makafui Woanyah scored 38 percent.
Overall Best
Savannah Regional Chairman, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana popularly known as Professor Kalamonia emerged as the best and best Regional Chairman for 2022, with 82.6 percent.
Election results 2020
The survey found that with scarce resources during the 2020 general election, Chairman Iddrisu Sulemana’s team worked hard and won three of the seven constituencies in the home area of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.
The three constituencies are Damongo, with Hon. Samuel Abdulai Jinapor is the first member of parliament, Salaga Utara constituency, represented by Hon. Alhassan Abdullah Iddi (first timer) and Hon. Mahama Asei Seini for Daboya/Mankarigu constituency (first timer).
The NPP enjoyed more than 80,000 Presidential votes and an unprecedented record saved the ruling party from being in the opposition. Savannah is the only region that increased its Parliamentary seats from one (1) in 2016 to three (3) in 2020.
Relationship between government officials and constituent executives
According to the findings, Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu, when he served in 2019 as the NPP Savannah Regional Chairman for the first time established strong relationships with government officials, constituency executives, party soldiers, traditional leaders, Ulama, and the media. This situation led to the party’s work spirit at the grassroots which translated to victory in 2020.
