MicroStrategy will release applications and software solutions powered by the Bitcoin Lightning Network in 2023.
MicroStrategy chief executive Michael Saylor spoke about the company’s plans in the Twitter Spaces room on Wednesday, pointing to some of the offerings currently underway at the software company.
Saylor stated that as part of the transition from CEO to executive chairman, the company’s Bitcoin arm has been able to focus more deeply on ways to not only buy and hold BTC but also contribute to the ecosystem. As it seeks to branch out from regular software applications and into Bitcoin, MicroStrategy can use its existing knowledge to provide tools for the Bitcoin and Lightning ecosystem for enterprises.
“We want to make sure that the company can play the Lamp infrastructure in the evening” and in thousands of employees or customers, Saylor explained. “We want to connect it to enterprise technology and create a marketing strategy for the CMO going forward.”
Areas MicroStrategy is exploring for Lightning services include online content monetization, enterprise marketing, web paywalls, and internal enterprise controls. Each chief marketing officer should be able to offer satoshis — a smaller unit of Bitcoin denomination — as an incentive for customers to post reviews or provide feedback, Saylor said.
“We have a team working on it and are looking to bring something out by next year. We expect to show something in the first quarter.”
Saylor also spoke Twitter Spaces chat that the upcoming Bitcoin event MicroStrategy will feature “Lightning for companies” agenda, which should dive deep into the plans of the company how it wants to explore and contribute to the ecosystem and drive further adoption.
