I have long assumed that Labour’s chance of gaining another Commons majority was dashed at the 2015 Election when they saw their position in Scotland slipping away.
He went into the election defending 41 of Scotland’s 59 seats. They ended up with one MP north of the border and that is unchanged.
So the polling trends in Scotland as seen in the Wikipedia table above are quite encouraging for Starmer and his team. Worryingly, a recent Ipsos poll shows a different picture.
Just getting double digits in the number of MPs in Scotland could play a big role in the party’s bid to regain power with a LAB man sworn in as prime minister.
