Tucker Carlson on Wednesday condemned Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s remarks about ICU nurse Alex Pretti, who was fatally shot by Border Patrol agents last weekend in Minneapolis.
In the wake of Pretti’s murder, Noem referred to him as a “domestic terrorist” and claimed that he had attacked the officers. Circulated videos of the incident and sworn affidavits contradicted DHS’ claims. Noem also alleged that Pretti came to stop a law enforcement operation without providing any evidence.
On Wednesday’s episode of “The Tucker Carlson Show,” Carlson seemed to sympathize with the Trump administration.
“I think the Trump administration is in a very tough spot right now. I think they know they are. I think for political and humanitarian reasons, for reasons of love of country, I’m being sincere, they want to fix this, but it’s complex at every turn.”
However, Carlson had no such sympathy for Noem.
“It was just outrageous that the secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, just got up there and trashed Alex Pretti,” he said.
Carlson’s guest, journalist and author Michael Shellenberger, described Noem’s statements about Pretti as “dehumanizing and gross.” Carlson agreed.
“We didn’t create life, we can’t, we’re not capable of it and when it ends, I don’t care who it is, we have to bow before the mystery of death and take it seriously,” Carlson said. “You can never mock someone. You know what I mean?”
