“So if we repeat history now, what does that tell us? It means that we have failed or refused to learn from our own history.”
He said contrary to the expectations of the government of the rebellion of the former, the only lifeline there Ghanaians have taken the decision not to participate in disruptive changes in government.
“Otherwise, we wouldn’t be here. It’s our only lifeline. However, people’s patience has a limit,” he said.
He said as the NDC and parts of Ghana commemorate the revolution, let the leaders of the country be reminded that they should not be too patient with Ghanaians, warning that it can be dangerous for the entire nation.
“We have created this democracy and we want it to last. Even if the intention is to misbehave so that there is disruption and our records give Ghanaians a lasting constitution, we are not willing to follow their bait because we want the constitution to last and use the same constitution to give decision,” he said.
Principles
The Secretary General of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey bemoaned the level of selfishness that he said has eaten into the body politic of Ghana.
He said it was sad that the country had drifted for 41 years, adding that political parties had strayed from their original principles such as love for the nation.
He called for a return to the core principle of the NDC which is the welfare of the nation first and foremost before individual interests.
Mr. Kwetey said during that time, the NDC has become a political party that has a lot of policies that although good and good are not helpful.
He said the NDC must return to its fundamentals and values.
“This party must return to the Bedrock of principles and values. This party can only be a party that is known to build roads and build schools and build infrastructure. There are even evil rulers who can build roads. This party must be fundamental. A party that loves the country enough this is to ensure that the principles we set will help this country forever.
He said the NDC has done a good job as a party, but there is still a lot to do.
