“I Can Not Suffer For Obeying The Laws” – JOWAK Fumes | Elections

It appears that the bedeviling legal battle of the National Democratic Congress is far from over as another setting challenges regional elections in the Eastern region.

From available court documents, the suit to annul the election was initiated by a former regional chairman, John Owusu-Amankrah popularly known as JOWAK.

In the lawsuit, JOWAK stated that the constitution of the Democratic National Congress was seriously violated when the regional conference was held on December 17, 2022.

According to the party’s constitution, the regional chairman held a regional conference but he was deliberately excluded, and the election was conducted without participation or approval, thus violating the constitutional mandate as the party chairman.

Mr. Owusu-Amankrah also noted in the setting that before the regional conference, there were some challenges with some Constituencies, venue for the conference and many other issues. According to him, all these matters are judged at various levels of the party.

The plaintiff also noted that all these issues and the results of the Youth Conference on December 11, 2022, where Atiwa Timur delegates were not allowed to vote, he was presented with a lawsuit filed by Albert Bonsu from Atiwa Timur who seems to follow the same goal. Regional Conference. He further noted that after discussions with some party officials and lawyers, it was agreed that the election could not be held due to the application of the injunction and therefore issued a notice to shut down the Regional Conference.

Unlike the decision and the Injunction on the Election, JOWAK considers that the Election has no legal implications. He stressed that as Chairman and candidate as well, he could not ignore the injunction application given to him as Regional Chairman by the court and was shocked that the election was allowed to be held blindly on December 19. 2022.

Therefore, they asked the court to annul the election and ask for a new election to be held because it violates public policy so that they suffer just because they chose to obey the laws of the Republic of Ghana.

But he petitioned the party on November 22, 2022 for a resolution, but they have not responded so far and then proceeded to court for compensation.
