Rep.-elect George Santos (RN.Y.), who has been knee-deep in controversy about his apparent affinity for lies and lies, named his friend who pushed the fib, Donald Trump, as an inspiration to run Congress in 2020. .
Santos named the former president as a source of inspiration in a 2021 clip shared by the Twitter account @PatriotTakes, which monitors right-wing extremism, on Wednesday.
The New York Republican told Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, that Donald Trump β who has reportedly made more than 30,000 false or misleading claims during his one term in office β is “the most organic president in our nation’s history.”
“[He] shocked the nation, shocked the world, and these people love him. Why? It takes a billionaire to be … a little man’s president,” Santos said of Trump’s 2016 election victory.
He then added: “I went to business school because of Donald Trump. I ran for Congress because I thought Donald Trump, if he makes it, it’s time for everyone to have a chance. The Democrats can’t eliminate it.
Santos originally ran to replace Rep. Tom Suozzi (DN.Y.) in 2020, but lost to the incumbent by a margin of about 46,000 votes.
Santos, like Trump, recommended lost the election there is the result of fraud. He waited until two weeks after Election Day to acknowledge his opponent.
Santos, who has to face some telephone to resign and reportedly face at least two investigations, also referred to as the “complete frenzy” of the former president on January 6, 2021, when he appeared on the Lara Trump show.
His comments came a month after he condemned the violence during the US Capitol riots, which he described as a “sad and dark” day in US history in tweets recently resurfaced.
