Britney Spears DUI Arrest: Breaking Down The Biggest Misconception!

Britney Spears did NOT try to escape her arrest!

As Perezcious readers know, last week, the pop star was shockingly arrested for a DUI after she was seen swerving between lanes and speeding. Cops also found an unknown substance in her vehicle, which sources have claimed may have been Adderall she purchased while in Mexico. It’s currently being tested. If it comes back to be mixed with anything other than the pure substance, it could be a much bigger problem for Brit Brit.

The singer also underwent toxicology testing to determine her blood alcohol content, though per TMZ, she has claimed it was .06, just below the legal limit of .08.

She’s now awaiting a court appearance in May and hoping she doesn’t get hit with jail time. While it’s hard to know what will happen, there’s one thing we can now confirm she won’t be punished for: Britney was NOT trying to run from cops!

If you listened to dispatch audio from her arrest (above), you might’ve wondered about the timeline of events of when reports came in about her car to when she was actually taken into custody. It was because of this audio that a rumor spread online that the Circus artist tried to avoid the authorities, which would obviously be a big deal! But California Highway Patrol Lt. Matt Gutierrez is denying that ever happened, insisting there was “zero chase.”

Speaking to TMZ on Saturday, Matt said there was no pursuit. The first call about Britney’s car came in at around 8:13 p.m., but it took about an hour until she was pulled over.

It turns out that this wasn’t because she was avoiding the cops. Instead, Matt explained that other drivers probably saw Britney driving erratically and alerted the authorities. But just because the incident was on their radar doesn’t mean cops rushed to Britney’s location right away. Instead, it wasn’t until an officer was in the area and saw the vehicle that they pulled her over — and she complied immediately. Good to hear!
