Carl Froch and George Groves reunite at the Manchester Arena, the scene of their epic first fight, to join the broadcast team for Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Smith on January 21, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Froch and Groves will enter the ring in the arena for the first time since their fierce fight in Manchester which proved to be a landmark event in British boxing.
Groves famously stunned Froch in the first round before “Cobra” roared back in what would become a classic fight and scored a stoppage victory that Groves hated.

Both were British boxing stars during their feud but now retired have put aside their own rivalry.
Froch and Groves will join the commentary team for Box Office events.
“We both realized at the time that we were good for each other,” Froch said Sky Sports.

“The first fight was a good watch. I was really beaten for six rounds. A knockdown in the first round and then everything did for the next six or seven rounds I was only the second half behind. The fight I had was probably one of the six round beatings the best worst i have taken.
“To come back from that, turn it around and then obviously have a rematch at Wembley, it’s just a great rivalry.”
Groves agreed. “That delivered on every count,” he said. “This year will be the 10th anniversary. As persuasive as Carl is, he will say that the tides ebb and flow. [in the fight before its contentious stoppage finish]. I don’t think so.
“It was an unforgettable fight, an unforgettable experience and something I can now look back on with pride.”

Eubank Jr versus Smith looks set to continue the legacy of a great fight that took place at the Manchester Arena.
“It’s one of the fights where others know it’s harder to make solid predictions,” said Groves, who boxed Eubank in the Manchester Arena alone and like Froch sparred with him when they were active fighters.
“Eubank has made huge improvements throughout his pro career,” Groves said. “I’m not going to try to box Smith, because Smith is a lighter, smaller, more experienced guy, which might suit him.
“It was a good match.
“Eubank will want to drag him into the fight and then we’ll see how Liam Smith copes. Smith is tough.

Former WBA super middleweight champion George Groves says Liam Smith ‘has to go all out’ against Chris Eubank Jr and reveals what it was like to fight Eubank.
“But he gave a lot of natural size against Eubank. Eubank fights as high as super-middleweight. If Eubank wants to go back to the way he was when he boxed me, when it was all about volume, he wanted to punch. hard, wanted to hurt people and wanted to drop in the show, which will probably suit him better.
“Because they want to try and drag him into a dogfight.”
Froch, who was elected to the Hall of Fame this year, also believes that Eubank Jr vs Smith has the potential to be a British boxing classic.
“I have,” he said Sky Sports. “Liam Smith, he knows what he’s doing. He’s been the best. He fought Canelo. He’s had some of the best fights and he’s a genuine world champion in my eyes. He’s got stripes.
“Eubank Jr. is also tough, like the old man. He showed that he has 12 very good rounds. When he comes, he will win.
“He’s tough, he can take punches and he has a ferocious work rate when he creates shots.
“When they work, when they put combinations together and put you in the back, there’s nothing you can do.

“But this is a serious business and Liam Smith is a serious operator. So I think he has had his fill.
“This is for me the biggest British battle I’ve seen in centuries,” added Froch. “You can come unstuck against someone like Liam Smith. He will work when you come in. He will look for a counter-punch. He has the experience to cut the ring, close him and put Eubank under pressure.
“It’s one I’m really looking forward to. I’ll wait until I can share with my old mate George Groves before I can come out that I predict to win.”
