Faculty of Management Science, District Bayero UniversityKano, on Tuesday, hosted an International Conference and Doctoral Colloquium intended to discuss climate change and digital technologies.
Dean of the Faculty, Kabir Tahir-Hamid, professor, told PREMIUM TIMES that the theme of the three-day event is “Sustainable Transformation of Public and Corporate Management in the Digital Era: Perspectives, Challenges and Prospects.”
He said the meeting aims for a radical rethinking of the long-standing ways of doing things and the traditional path to development.
“Technology has become a critical success factor and modern public and business organizations must see it as an integral part of their strategy if they are to thrive.
“The conference will provide a platform for intellectual discourse on how to achieve sustainable development using digital technologies in the public and private sectors.
“Strategically address the issues of transformation of Public and Corporate Management in the digital era and Chart the course on how to use digital technologies, emerging perspectives and paradigms to promote growth and sustainable economic development for all.
“To Identify strategies to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
“Identify viable strategies to address poverty, unemployment, pollution, climate change, declining living standards and inefficiencies in public and private management,” he said.

The conference will bring together academics and practitioners in the fields of Management Science, Digital Technology and more. Participation is also open to all interested members of the public, he added.
“The conference is also to ensure transparency in service delivery. When the government and the private sector use digital technology in service delivery it will cause various effects.
“With the presentation of 300 papers from scholars around the world, the presenters will talk about digital technologies to overcome the level of poverty in the country and the problem of the level of unemployment in the country, said the academician.
Dignitaries expected at the event, including, Vice Chancellor, Bayero University, Sagir Abbas; Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Mr. Tahir-Hamid; Chairman, Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) Yusuf Kazaure and others.
