Jack Kennedy looks set for an extended spell on the sidelines after confirming he suffered a broken leg in a fall at Naas on Saturday.
Now the number one jockey for Gordon Elliott following the retirement of Davy Russell, the 23-year-old rode his boss on Top Bandit as the pair were upset at fence four in the Rathmore Stud Irish EBF Novice Chase. won by Appreciate It.
Top Bandit was unfortunately fatally injured in the incident and Kennedy was stretchered off the track and transferred to Tallaght Hospital for further assessment.

Elliott said this afternoon that the injury “doesn’t look good” and after X-rays, his agent Kevin O’Ryan has confirmed a fracture has been found.
He said: “It looks like a lower leg fracture and he’ll be seeing a surgeon in a few days. “It’s a big blow, but it could have been worse.”
Kennedy’s supporters will be delighted as he returns to Naas on Monday morning to watch some of Elliott’s youngsters in action.
However, whether he will be fit to ride at the Cheltenham Festival in just over nine weeks remains to be seen.
When asked how long he felt Kennedy would stop, O’Ryan added: “How long is the string? Everyone heals differently.
“He will do his best to come back as soon as possible, but how long it will take, no one knows.”
