At Nigerian Army has announced the redeployment of the top general.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, approved the redeployment of senior officers in an effort to ensure administrative and operational efficiency in the Nigerian Army (NA).
Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-General. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement on Saturday, said the new postings and appointments are aimed at sustaining the recent operational success recorded in combating emerging security challenges in the country.
Mr. Nwachukwu said the affected officers are Major Generals and Brigadier Generals among several other senior officers in army formations and units.
He added that those affected in the redeployment included several Chief Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders, Commandants of Army Training Institutes, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and several others.
On the new appointment, Mr. Nwachukwu said the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, May. Ibrahim Ali, moved to the North East as Joint Theater Commander of Operation Hadin Kai North East Task Force (OPHK).
Said the Chief of Training (Army), Maj. Abdulsalam Ibrahim has been appointed GOC 3 Division as well as Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) Commander, while Maj. Gen. AS Chinade will move from 2nd Division Headquarters to 82nd Division Headquarters as GOC.
He said that Maj.-Gen. GM Mutkut has been appointed GOC 8 Division and Operation Commander Hadarin Daji (OPHD) of the Department of Policy and Plans of the Army Headquarters.

“The newly appointed Corps Commander is the former theater commander, OPHK, Major General. Christopher Musa, as the new Corps Commander, Infantry Corps, while Maj. Gen. MS Ahmed moved to Headquarters Nigerian Army Armored Corps as Corps Commander.
“Maj.-Gen. BR Sinjen moved from the Nigerian Army School of Artillery to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery as the new Corps Commander, and Major-Gen. PE Eromosele moved from the National Defense College to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Engineers as the commander.
“Also, Major General. AA Ayannuga moved to the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command as a commander, while May. GS Abdullahi moved from the Defense Space Administration to the Nigerian Army Headquarters.
“Among the new Chief Staff Officers of the Defense and Army Headquarters is Maj. Gen. Solomon Udounwa who was reassigned from the Special Services and Programs Department of the Army Headquarters to the Defense Headquarters as the Chief of Defense Training and Operations.

“Maj.-Gen. SG Mohammed has been appointed as Head of Training, Maj. UT Musa from Headquarters 82 Division to Department of Army Administration as Director of Personnel Management, while Maj. Y Yahaya from Headquarters 31 Artillery Brigade moved to Department of Army Administration as Director Tenaga Kerja (Army) among several others,” he said.
Mr. Nwachukwu said that Brig.-Gen. TI Gusau has been appointed as Director of Defense Information when Brig.-Gen. AM Umar was appointed as the new Commander of Guards Brigade.
According to him, other reassigned Brigade Commanders include Brig.-Gen. S Aliyu from 6 Division Headquarters to 63 Brigade Headquarters, while Brig. HD Bobbo moved from National Defense College to 31 Brigade Headquarters.

“Brig.-Gen. MT Aminu transferred from Army War College Nigeria to 35 Brigade Headquarters among several others.
“It should be noted that redeployment in the Nigerian Army is routine, especially with the promotion of senior officers approved by the Army Council for 2022.
“The redeployment of all the appointees is effective from January 11,” he said. (NAN)
