Over the weekend, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the area around Reno as well as one for the Lake Tahoe Basin. According to the city’s Weather Service, the Tahoe Basin received between 20 and 24 inches of snow on Saturday, Dec. 31 and Sunday.
A day after the accident, Renner’s rep said the actor underwent surgery on Monday, January 3, adding that he was back in the ICU “in critical but stable condition” following the procedure.

What Washoe County Sheriff Says About ‘Tragic Accident’?
Local Sheriff Darin Balaam opened up about the circumstances of Renner’s incident at a press conference on Tuesday, January 3.
“Mr. Renner went to get the PistenBully, or snowcat – a huge snow removal device weighing at least 14,330 pounds – in an effort to move the vehicle,” Balaam said at the time, noting the Hawkeye alum helped family members get the “stuck” car out of the snowbank. “After successfully pulling the private vehicle out of the stuck location, Mr. Renner exited the PistenBully to speak with a member of his family.”
He continued: “At this time, it was observed that PistenBully started rolling. In an attempt to stop PistenBully rolling, Mr. Renner tried to get back to the driver’s seat of PistenBully. Based on our investigation, at this time Mr. Renner was thrown by PistenBully. … The investigation is ongoing , but we do not suspect any foul play. I will repeat that: We do not suspect any foul play. We believe this is a tragic accident.
