
A driver has not been found after running over a pedestrian before crashing into a tree in Pretoria on Saturday.
The incident, which happened around 17:00 in Salvokop, left three children dead and several others – including a pregnant woman – injured.
“When you come [at the] BMW sedan was found to have left the road, striking seven pedestrians and killing three people.

“Four-year-old twins died as well as a four-year-old girl. Four adults suffered minor to moderate injuries,” Emer-G-Med said in a statement.
According to emergency medical services (EMS), the driver was not at the scene.
“The driver is believed to have fled after the collision.”
The South African Police Service (Saps) is investigating the incident.
The speedster was arrested
The incident happened after a 36-year-old woman was arrested for speeding.
The woman was driving at 220km/h in a red VW Golf 7 on the N4 East highway in Gauteng.
The speedster was handcuffed by the Gauteng Traffic Police high speed unit on Saturday night.
It is unclear why the woman was speeding.

Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson Sello Maremane said the woman was detained at the Bronkhorstspruit police station.
“He faces charges related to reckless and careless driving with an alternative charge of driving beyond the speed limit of 120 km per hour. The speedster is expected to appear in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court shortly,” said Maremane.
