Ghana’s best days lie ahead; let’s work for prosperity – Akufo-Addo charges

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has advised citizens to work hard to ensure that Ghana’s crisis-hit economy does not collapse.

This he said can only be achieved through the collective efforts of all Ghanaians because the country’s best day is yet to come.

“30 years ago, we all decided to build, according to God, a united nation, based on the values of democracy and the rule of law. We have come a long way to realize this vision, and I am sure that with the spirit of justice, hard work, integrity and reconciliation, Mother Ghana’s best days are ahead of us.

The President spoke in a speech to the nation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the 4th Republic on Friday.

In his speech, Nana Akufo-Addo preached what he said is a new Ghanaian civilization that is needed to overcome the current economic difficulties and compensate the people.

“Although we are currently facing difficulties in our economic performance, I do not doubt our collective determination to overcome these challenges, and put our nation back on the path of progress and prosperity”, said President Akufo-Addo.

Ghana has reached a Staff Level Agreement with the International Monetary Fund as it seeks an additional $3 billion credit facility to restore its ailing economy to fortune.

This has become necessary due to currency depreciation, high inflation rates and a general increase in the prices of goods and services resulting in a high cost of living.

But President Akufo-Addo is very optimistic that the days of suffering for ordinary Ghanaians will end.

“Let us continue to work to create a platform for the evolution of a new Ghanaian civilization, which will give true meaning to the fundamental values of freedom and justice that our nation was born with,” he said.
