The Bulls ended a three-match losing streak in some style when they went down to the Dragons 29-14 in the United Rugby Championship match in Newport on Saturday night.
Bulls are in all sorts of pressure ahead of the game after a period of celebration less than impressive and the fact that director of rugby Jake White and key flyhalf Chris Smith came down with the flu, preventing them from taking part in the match.
But the Bulls, with their dominant pack and scrum laying the foundation, returned to winning ways with a fine performance that brought in four tries.
Bonus-point wins
The bulls were 17-0 up in the short term, thanks to Kurt-Lee Arendse’s entry and a penalty try was awarded, but the home team fought back to close the gap to 17-14 at the break.
The Whites though were the better side and they managed to keep the Dragons out in the second half and scored two more tries of their own, by Harold Vorster and Bismarck du Plessis.
A bonus-point win would bring much relief after the Bulls’ URC losses to the Stormers and Sharks over Christmas and New Year. The Bulls move into third place on the log with the win.
Two Dragons tries were scored by Bradley Roberts and Max Clarke.
