Mauritanian police at Nouakchott airport have prevented former President Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz from traveling abroad, he said.
Mr Abdelaziz was about to board an Air France flight when a police officer told him he was not allowed to leave the country. He also confiscated his passport.

He accused the “corrupt regime” of “targeting him and persecuting him”. The government has not yet responded.
The former president along with top officials who worked from 2008 to 2019 are being investigated for allegations of corruption and mismanagement.
Mr. Abdelaziz said he was the victim of a political score, and said he should enjoy immunity under the country’s constitution, according to the AFP news agency.
