Last week, Charles III delivered his first Christmas speech as king.
It’s a job his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, has been doing for 70 years, and the whole world is watching as the new monarch takes on this time-honored holiday tradition.
Much has been made of the fact that Charles “snubbed” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by not mentioning them in his speech.
But in all likelihood, this is just another example of the British tabloid media creating a conflict where none exists.
In fact, insiders are now claiming that the King has decided to reunite his family in 2023.
“Those close to the king insist that it has been clear that he loves his two sons, keeping the lines of communication open for the past few years, despite many barbs from California,” a source close to the situation told the British tabloid. The Telegraph.
The insider admitted that Charles and his youngest son’s relationship has been “strained at times” in recent months.
Despite these obstacles, it seems that the Queen has reached out to Harry and Meghan and “insisted that the door remains open and the Duke and [Meghan Markle] welcome anytime.”
If this report is true, it is surprising for several reasons.
For starters, a royal insider said Charles was furious over Harry and Meghan’s comments on the Netflix series that aired last month.
Also, Harry recently confirmed that his father and brother seem to have no interest in burying the hatchet.
Harry’s long-awaited memoir won’t be released until next week, but a promotional tour is already underway.
And in multiple interviews, Harry has said he has reached out to Charles and Prince William, only for attempts at reconciliation to be rebuffed.
Most recently, Harry told British journalist Tom Bradby that his father and brother “have no desire to reconcile.”
“I want to ask my father back. I want to have my brother [Prince William] back.”
The statement comes after reports that the elder brother was furious when he learned of a scene in the documentary in which Harry recalled an incident where William screamed during a family meeting.
“It was horrible when my sister was screaming and yelling at me, and my dad said something that was just not true, and my grandmother sat there and took it all in,” she said.
Charles may want to reunite his family in the new year – but it’s clear he’ll be fighting an uphill battle.
