Combine other colors in the kitchen
Designers are moving away from the all-white approach through one-tone and stainless-steel-finished kitchen look and gravitating towards including a more complex palette.
Jason Wells, Brand and Marketing Manager at PG Bison says that with the availability of fresh new colors and designs to complement modern spaces and lifestyles, kitchen design is becoming more sophisticated.
Pale green, blue and darker gray and carbon solid colors are in fashion.
Today’s designers mix and match solid colors and wood grains to create visual interest through a combination of tones and textures.
For example, matte gray color pairs well with textured natural wood. Gloss white, which also remains very popular, can be used with solid colors and wood textures as an accent for a beautiful three-tone space.
International design shows, such as The Block Australia, Grand Designs and Amazing Interiors, have also created popular kitchens with character and retro color palettes.

Matt’s kitchen is brand new
Wells says there is a big trend in kitchens with darker colors, especially in matt. Matt shades tend to scatter light randomly, reducing reflections to negligible levels.
Designers choose darker gray and charcoal colors with a matt finish and accent them with wood or stone designs.
Surfaces inspired by nature
Marble is enjoying great fame. However, it remains too expensive for many people’s budgets. Thankfully, improvements in digital scanning and printing, as well as in manufacturing, mean that ultra-realistic finishes are now available in high-pressure laminates (HPL) and melamine-faced boards (MFB), with options that can capture the look of marble, granite, stone and wood, in several colors to suit every taste.
Wells said modern products look incredibly true-to-life and designers who incorporate touches of marble- or wood-look into the kitchen in all sorts of interesting ways, from the central island to shelving and backing in cabinets with glass doors and internal lighting.
