Democrat Robert Zimmerman, who lost to lie-guaranteed Rep.-elect George Santos (RN.Y.) in November, joked about the former campaign fib-anger of his opponent as he called for the House Ethics Committee to investigate him there. (You can listen to what he said below.)
Zimmerman, who called on Santos to resign and ran against him in a special election earlier this week, echoed the call for an investigation as he made a jab at the Republican over his history of fibs.
“We call on Congress and ask Congress to conduct a House ethics investigation into George Santos … make sure that more people come together, make it clear that George Santos is not – if his name is George Santos – make sure that George Santos is not. a member of Congress … ” said the New York Democrat.
Zimmerman added that the controversy is not a matter of “Democrat or Republican politics” but a call to protect democracy.
“What is before us is not about the results of the congressional elections,” he said. “What lies ahead of us is protecting our democracy, restoring our confidence in the integrity of public officials and most importantly, protecting the American dream.”
