Edwardstone will run in the Clarence House Chase at Ascot on January 21 after crashing out in the Desert Orchid Chase at Christmas.
Alan King will want to keep last season’s Arkle winner busy, as he only got over the fifth fence before beating Tom Cannon.
Having been thwarted in his attempts to run him at Cheltenham and Ascot before Tingle Creek’s success, King felt he needed a race to keep him happy.
“He’s 100 percent. He bounced back in the morning,” King told Nick Luck’s Daily Podcast. “He’s been cantering a long way, he’s been to school in the morning, he’s jumped six fences and he’s walking perfectly.
“He had a perfect run around Kempton – after he got rid of Tom. I just thought he was a bit fresher last week since Tingle Creek.
“We didn’t do too much with him to try to bring him along, but I just thought he was a little gung-ho.
“Anyway, he will do a lot of work and hopefully he will go to Ascot on the 21st.
“They are very full, quite crowded. Ascot will be a good plan and we will see the Spirit of the Game between (Ascot and Cheltenham).”
