Tipped as one of the colts to watch in this year’s Triple Crown series, Jaguar ended 2022 on a smashing note by winning the P1 million Cool Summer Farm (CSF) Juvenile Stakes at the Metro Manila Turf Club in Malvar, Batangas.
Ridden well by ace Ferdinand Raquel, the Delta Gold-bred Dance City edged past the fading Secretary on the way home for the first major stakes win of his career, clocking one minute and 25.6 seconds for 1,400 metres. This victory is worth P600,000 for the connection of the top choice Jaguar, but more importantly, it shows the true potential that is being directed up for a Triple Crown stint in another busy year for Philippine horseracing.
Secretary, who was evicted as the second choice, won the P225,000 prize, with Gintong Hari coming in third.
Last year’s race day generated more than P21 million, which translates to more than P200,000 in prize money for the winning connections. —Musong R. Fort INQ
