Limpopo pensioner nabbed after woman attacked by his dogs dies

Limpopo police have arrested and charged a 67-year-old man after a woman who was attacked by her dog died in hospital days after the attack.

The old man appeared in court for the first time and is expected to return to Senwabarwana Court on Thursday.

Two days before Christmas Day, 43-year-old Melitta Sekole from Senwabarwana village was reportedly walking when she was attacked by two dogs believed to be pit bulls, provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.

“The dogs tore his clothes and bit him badly. He was rescued by members of the community and taken to hospital in a critical condition,” Ledwaba told News24.

Pit bull attack

There have been several pit bull attacks on children in South Africa, where pit bulls have mauled children and even adults to death.

Many owners of the breed are afraid to give up their dog NSPCA as the phone is mounted to have a pit bull banned.

According to a statement released by the animal care organization, there have been owners surrendering in the community to NSPCA centers in recent weeks.

If the owners have not given up their pit bulls, the community is starting to take matters into its own hands.

“Animals are being poisoned, stabbed, beaten, and retaliated against by an angry community.”

“The NSPCA receives no funding from the government. In addition, for the important work we provide to communities with limited resources, we will also face this problem.

“The NSPCA operates at great risk and expense to help animals and communities,” the statement said.
