A dead marine mammal has washed up at “U Compound”, a suburb of Tema Newtown in the Greater Accra Region.

A white whale washed ashore on Monday.

However, the mammal has been buried by officials before it decomposes and avoids the stench.

Teams from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have visited the scene and started an investigation to find out the cause of the whale’s death.

Rodrick Daddey-Adjei, the Deputy Chief Executive of the Food Division, noted that the animals started to bloat after a few days.

According to him, officials decided to bury the mammal so that it could come out and be buried.

But he denied that parts of the animal had been in residents’ homes, saying measures were being taken to prevent such a situation.

“We are there to make sure that no product comes out and to make sure that the product is disposed of properly,” Daddey-Adjei said in an interview.

But interestingly, a video seen by DGN Online shows people cutting the mammal into pieces.

It attracts a lot of people to the scene who want to see the situation with others who can hear that they will use the meat to prepare pepper soup.
