Watergate Lawyer John Dean Declares Jan. 6 Case Against Trump ‘Overwhelming’

“I think the overwhelming case — the evidence beyond a reasonable doubt — is outside of Trump,” Dean said on CNN Thursday.

“It’s really going to be a question of whether we prosecute the former president, not whether we can – and it’s stuck, which we did,” added Dean, who has witnessed something like this before.

Dean responded to GOP strategist Dan Urban’s position that Trump would not be impeached. “Proving criminal wrongdoing is a much more difficult matter than suggesting that someone has engaged in misconduct; there’s a big difference between the two,” Urban said.

On January 6, the committee referred four criminal charges against Trump to the Justice Department. The charges include obstruction of official process, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to make false statements, and inciting rebellion against the United States.
