Doctors are “concerned” for Queen Elizabeth II’s health and have been placed under medical supervision, Buckingham Palace announced Thursday.
“After further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned about Her Majesty’s health and have recommended that she remain under medical supervision,” the Palace said in a statement. “The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
The Queen’s eldest son and heir Prince Charles was with her, while the rest of the family including Princes William and Harry also traveled to Scotland.
Prime Minister Liz Truss said in a statement, “The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this afternoon.”
“My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across Great Britain – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family today,” Truss said.
The Queen made her last public appearance on Tuesday at her Scotland home, where she formally invited Truss to become prime minister. In photos of the meeting, the 96-year-old king uses a cane and smiles at the camera.
