Budweiser Releases Hyper-Patriotic Ad After Dylan Mulvaney Backlash

Budweiser, the self-proclaimed “king of beer,” just came out with a hackneyed ad to rule them all. (See the video below.)

One of the signature Clydesdales gallops through a pile of 60 seconds of platitudes celebrating “beer rooted in the heart of America, founded in a community where a handshake is a sure contract.”

We see flag waving, the Lincoln memorial, wheat fields and a nod to 9/11.

“It’s a story bigger than beer,” the narrator says. “This is a story about the American spirit.”

The many o’ red, white and blue to win back right-wing consumers upset just because the company made a commemorative can be personal for Mulvaney, an actor and trans activist who documented the transition to a viral audience on TikTok.

Anheuser-Busch’s bland statements after the controversy didn’t help either.

“We’ve never wanted to be part of a discussion that divides people. We’re in the business of bringing people together over beer,” CEO Brendan Whitworth said on Friday, the same day the ad appeared on Twitter.
