Former US president Donald Trump’s lawyer said on Thursday that he has been indicted in New York on charges involving payments during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence allegations of extramarital sex.
The charges come as Trump is running again for the White House

Former US president Donald Trump’s lawyer said on Thursday that he has been indicted in New York on charges involving payments during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence allegations of extramarital sex.
It is the first criminal case against a former US president and has hampered Trump’s bid to win the White House in 2024.
Trump insisted he “did nothing wrong.” He and his lawyer said the charges were politically motivated and suggested he was a victim of extortion.
