This is how MPs chose Akufo-Addo’s six new ministers
The six new ministers appointed by President Akufo-Addo in February 2023, have finally been approved by Members of Parliament after a few exciting hours in the House.
The Appointments Committee cannot recommend the agreement of the nominees on the consensus which forces the House to vote to decide the fate of the appointed ministers.
The voting lasted for about an hour, followed by the sorting of the ballots and then counting by some Parliament staff.
After the counting was completed, the Speaker, Alban Bagbin announced the results that all ministers and deputy minister candidates were approved by the Parliament.
The Minority Caucus had earlier vowed to reject all the ministers, but this could not be done as some legislators of the National Democratic Congress chose to vote for the candidate.
