The government on Friday issued a “final notice” through the ministry of physical planning and urban development and the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
A statement signed by the general manager of LASBCA, Gbolahan Oki, titled ‘Final Notice to conduct integrity tests and carry out test recommendations.’
“This is to inform the General Public that an unregistered structure has been identified by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) to display various signs of distress,” the statement read.
“LASBCA has therefore served all law enforcement notices on the structure and requested the owner/developer of the structure to conduct a Non-Destructive Test (NDT) on the structure without any response from the owner/developer of the building.
The government issued a notice to the owners and developers of the affected buildings to conduct non-destructive tests on the structure to ensure the stability of the structure and if the structure is unfit for habitation, a demolition permit must be obtained from the planning permission. authority to remove structures in the interest of public safety.
