FWSC To Clear ‘Ghost Names’ On Public Payroll | Economy

The Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) announced that from next month, 1 April 2023, it will start a national monitoring exercise in collaboration with stakeholders to remove ‘ghost names’ in public sector salaries.

The monitoring exercise under the FWSC is aimed at cleaning up public sector salaries by identifying and eliminating fraud and existing anomalies.

This is done by ensuring that only approved salaries and allowances are paid.

In a public notice published by the Public Affairs Unit of the Commission, he asked the board/council and heads of public sector institutions to conduct an internal audit and clean up before the exercise of the commission, stating that the exercise should cover the basic salary and all types of benefits and allowances.

“With this communication, banks and individuals who received fraudulent salaries and allowances are also advised to take steps to recover the same and desist from further fraudulent practices or face the strictures of the law,” he said.
