Nicolas Maduro, the president of Venezuela, has decided to restructure and reorient the National Superintendency of Crypto Assets. The decision was published in March this year.
The reorganization of the department of crypto assets will be led by a new board, headed by Anabel Pereira Fernandez, a lawyer who has been the president of the Bank Deposit Guarantee and Protection Fund (FOGADE).

According to the decree published on March 17, the council is set to schedule the upcoming steps for the crypto department.

The decision states that the board will plan the next step for the crypto department, Sunacrip, in Spanish. The order did not provide further information on the elements included in the reorganization.
Overhaul Crypto Leave Joselit Ramirez
The crypto overhaul will not include Joselit Ramirez, who previously led the department since its establishment. Joselit Ramirez was arrested on March 17 based on corruption charges, according to local Venezuelan media sources.
According to reports, Joselit Ramirez has been in charge of overseeing crypto tax rules and the country’s cryptocurrency, Petro.
Joselit Ramirez was added to the Most Wanted List in June 2020. The Homeland Security Investigations Division of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has offered a reward of nearly $5 million for the exchange of information leading to Ramirez’s arrest.
Authorities claim Ramirez has political, social, and economic ties to drug cartels. Ramirez and former Venezuelan vice president Tareck El Aissami have also been linked to so-called drug lords.
The US government has offered $15 million to capture the country’s president, Maduro. Ramirez’s reward was low among other conspirators. El Aissami and other high-ranking officials received $10 million in gifts.
