Northern Ireland’s biggest unionist party will vote against key parts of the new Windsor framework trading arrangement in Westminster this week.
“Our party officers . . . met this morning and unanimously agreed that in the context of ongoing concerns and the need to see more secure progress while continuing to seek clarifications, changes and rework, that parliamentarians will vote against the draft statutory instrument on Wednesday,” said the Democrat. Unionist party leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson.
Wednesday’s vote was on a mechanism known as the Stormont brake designed to address union concerns about the imposition of new EU laws.
An election will be held but the DUP has “not” ruled out the prospect of a return to the government’s seat at Stormont, which the DUP has boycotted since May.
This is a developing story.
